Today was a great day for reminding myself that I do have a pretty good life - all things considered! Being a member of the not working force here in Oregon is really a downer at the moment.
Today's reminders - I can spend with the people that I choose to spend time with, can enjoy my garden most any time of day, and leave for the beach when others are still at work!
What I miss most with this 'forced early retirement' is my daily banter with the people that I used to work with. Today I received an invite to join a friend at the Portland Waterfront Park for the annual Oregon Symphony in the park. The music was amazing, I enjoyed getting out of the house and being in the midst of an ocean of people (and their dogs). I got to knit outside for 4 hours before the 1812 Overture came to it's end - with the artillery reports and the bells ringing. Perfect evening with wonderful music, dancing children, the sailboat that paraded past the crowd with a ginormous US flag fluttering in the breeze, and the finale - fireworks over the river bathed in the light of the nearly full moon.
